Hi, I'm Alaa (meaning in Arabic blessing from god)
My passion for design, lifelong learning, teaching, and building has led me to make a positive impact on people's lives through my design work, imparting my knowledge, and sharing my life/work experiences.
Currently, a graduate student at the University of Michigan, a Graduate Student Instructor at the School of Information, and a UX Research fellow at the Center of Academic Innovation.

my journey and love for UX!
I have always been driven to learn and understand technology and design. My passion has taken me on a journey across three countries to pursue my education. Although it wasn't easy for a Syrian Muslim woman living in a new country like the US to achieve her goal of getting accepted to the one of the top best universities in the world, I eventually made it to the University of Michigan.
I studied computer science to learn the logic behind every design we build until I discovered the fascinating world of UX design and immediately knew that was the industry that I want to pursue. I switched my focus to UX design as I believe it plays a crucial role in creating digital products that people love to use, and by focusing on the user experience of every product I can help drive business success and make a positive impact on people's lives. I am always seeking new ways to learn and grow in this field, and I am thrilled to see where my passion will take me next.
